To mark the 20th anniversary of the recognition of the Binche Carnival as an oral and intangible heritage by UNESCO, the Musée international du Carnaval et du Masque is organising an international conference on 16 and 17 March 2024 on the theme of “Carnivals and evolution”.
Twenty years after the adoption of the Unesco Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, the aim of the symposium is to take stock of the evolution and representation of carnivals in our society, and to stimulate exchanges between those involved, institutions and researchers in carnival traditions.
