The 5 continents

The diversity of the objects of the Museum’s collections is amazing. They include, of course, masks, but also costumes, accessories, ornaments, ritual objects, musical instruments etc.

They have increased gradually since the creation of the Museum in 1975. Given the heterogeneity of the collections and the represented practices, the next few lines are insufficient to provide a detailed picture and to completely put the objects back into their context.

Hence the following descriptions are incomplete. However, the collections are presented according to their geographical origin which makes it possible to give a survey of the masking practices per continent.
