Countdown to the 50th anniversary of the Museum !
The international Carnival and Mask Museum of Binche will celebrate its 50th anniversary on 13 June 2025. On this occasion, our permanent exhibition of masks from all over the world will be completely renewed. We invite you to discover the key dates of this celebration.
On 13 June 2025, our Museum will celebrate its half a century existence, marking a milestone in the conservation and showcasing of masking practices of the whole world.
The present exhibition « Masks from all over the world » presents about 200 pieces which will return to the storerooms as they will be replaced by new masks, costumes and accessories. We encourage all our visitors to explore this section before its definitive closure on 31 October 2024. On its reopening in June 2025, it will present a renewed exhibition with never shown pieces displayed by means of a modern exhibition design in order to offer an immersive and enriching experience to our visitors.
Until this important jubilee, the Museum will stage a temporary exhibition giving you the occasion to explore a particular subject of masking practices : death. The title of the exhibition will be « Unmasking death ».
