ABELAM – Facing the stars

This exhibition invites you to discover in an original way the masked traditions of the Abelam people of Papua New Guinea (Oceania).

Forty masks from the extraordinary collection of Marc Assayag, the author of a surprising book, “Les yeux sont des étoiles” (“The stars are eyes”), are on display.

Between mirror effect and optical illusion, this exhibition offers a completely new visual experience inviting the visitor to broaden his vision and to look from a different perspective at the perception of masked rituals.
